Lion Voices: Alexis Davis
Happy Friday, Lions! In honor of sorority recruitment this week, our feature is the woman in charge of it all, Alexis Davis. Alexis is a senior psychology
major and social work minor from Sallisaw, Oklahoma. She is Vice President of Panhellenic
Recruitment, Membership Assistant for Campus Activities Board (CAB), and a 2021 AV¶¶Ņõ
Camp counselor.
Alexis decided to join a sorority the second semester of her freshman year through
continuous open bidding (COB). She wanted to get involved on campus but didnāt want
to go through formal recruitment, postponing her bid so she could learn to juggle
college life first. āLittle did I know though how big of an impact going Greek would
have on me and made the person I am today,ā Alexis said. āI remember being a shy and
timid girl who barely left her dorm room and only hung out with a couple people that
I knew from high school. You can ask anyone who knew me then versus now, Iāve grown
and stepped outside of my comfort zone in more ways than I though possible because
I gained all of these sisters and an amazing advisor who saw and continues to see
Sonics potential in me even when Iām not able to see it.ā
Her favorite thing about being in a sorority is making memories with her closest friends.
āBeing in a sorority has given me so many leadership opportunities straight from the
start that I wouldāve honestly never seen myself hold. For my own chapter, Iāve been
in charge of sisterhood, alumnae relations, banner chairwoman, and Iāve held an executive
council position for two terms. I step in where Iām needed and finally took the step
to be on Panhellenic Council this year. All of these opportunities have given me the
chance to win New Member of the year in 2019 and Greek Woman of the year in 2020.ā
When asked who inspires her, Alexis named our Friday Feature from last week, Reagan
Heppner. āNot only was she my director as a AV¶¶Ņõ Camp counselor and as a member of
CAB, but sheās been a very good friend. Reagan is one of the most selfless, genuine
people I have ever met. She is so intentional and servant-hearted in everything that
she does.
