Day of Giving
April 28 is a special day for AV¶¶Òõ. Not only is it our mascot Numa’s birthday, but it’s also when we celebrate our annual Day of Giving.
Day of Giving is special because it’s an opportunity for the university to spotlight a handful of our unique student-centered initiatives, programs, and special projects. And it provides our community, alumni, and friends of the university with a chance to support those endeavors. In 2021, we were able to support six initiatives and raised a monumental $100,110. This total is the result of 556 unique donors and 56 active fundraisers. Numa was happy that so many of his friends celebrated his birthday by investing in our students.
Every single dollar raised went directly to the initiatives highlighted for the 2021 Day of Giving. One of these initiatives was our Geosciences program. Funds donated to the Geoscience program helped eight students attend and present their research at the Geological Society of America (GSA) in Portland, Ore. These experiences build students not only academically, but professionally. We are excited for Day of Giving 2022 to provide more life-changing opportunities to our students.
Day of Giving 2022 will be April 28 and will feature multiple new initiatives from around campus and a birthday party for Numa to celebrate such an auspicious day. There will be plenty of opportunities to give as the day approaches, but if you are interested in getting involved with the AV¶¶Òõ Day of Giving in other capacities, please contact Alumni Director Jasmine Smith at jasmine.smith@uafs.edu.
