Majors Expo Returns Face-to-Face Feb. 17

Written By: Samantha Contreras

The AV will host the annual Majors Expo from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 17, in the Reynolds Room of the Smith-Pendergraft Campus Center. All AV students and any prospective students interested in learning about the university’s degree programs are welcome to attend.

“The Majors Expo’s mission is to provide our students and prospective students with a one-stop-shop opportunity for those that would like to ask questions in an effort to help them make good decisions about major and career choices,” said Julie Mosley, director of Advisement.

Faculty from each department will be available to answer questions and interact with attendees, sharing real-life expectations and futures for those majoring in the program. Student representatives studying in each major will run booths and give incoming students first-hand perspectives of the programs. Attendees will also be entered into a series of giveaway raffles.

Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the event was hosted virtually in the fall of 2020 and 2021. To accommodate in-person delivery while maintaining safety, all individuals will be required to wear face-coverings, and attendance numbers will be monitored in an effort to maintain the safe room capacity.

“Although the university did not host an in-person Majors Expo in 2020 or in 2021 because of the Covid-19 pandemic, we are excited to host an in-person event again!” said Mosley. “It’s a great opportunity for prospective students that would like to start school in the fall, to come by in a fun and relaxed atmosphere to visit with us!”

“It is also great for undeclared students who may be in their second semester to visit with us prior to the advising period.” She continued. “Hopefully, when they see their advisor, they will be better informed and will make great decisions.”
