AV Move-in to Welcome New, Returning Students
The excitement is building for students at the AV, where move-in weekend for on-campus housing will take place from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., Thursday, Aug. 18, through Saturday, Aug. 20.
During the three-day move-in extravaganza, more than 100 volunteers will help nearly 800 AV students settle into their homes, said Stephanie London, Assistant Dean of Students.
“Move-in is a kick-off event for so many students,” London said. “Students have the opportunity to settle into their new homes and meet their roommates and neighbors before starting classes on Monday (Aug. 22). Move-in volunteers serve as friendly faces, and they will even help haul belongings directly to student rooms if necessary.”
AV Camp counselors, members of registered student organizations, and resident assistants will provide luggage carts, move belongings and serve water and snacks, all while singing, dancing, and cheering for new residents. Faculty and staff volunteers will also be on site, directing traffic, sharing helpful instructions, and serving as comforting faces for students and parents alike.
Move-in at the Lion’s Den Residence Hall will start Thursday, Aug. 18, welcoming students
who will be attending AV Camp, the university’s student-led first year experience program. Lion’s Den residents
not participating in AV Camp will move in on Saturday, Aug. 20.
Students who live at the Sebastian Commons will move in Friday and Saturday, Aug.
19 and 20.
Complete information on move-in practices, including where to park, what to bring, and more, is available at /student-life/housing/move-in/.

Fort Smith residents should be aware that throughout move-in, streets around the university may be congested. If possible, drivers may wish to avoid Waldron Road between Kinkead and Grand avenues, as well as the 5000 block of Grand Avenue.
