AV Ranked as one of 2024's Best Colleges by US News
The University of Arkansas – Fort Smith earned multiple top rankings on the U.S. News & World Report's 2024 Best Colleges list released Sept. 18.
AV’s commitment to excellence and impact on students has earned prominent placements in multiple categories.
The highest overall ranking for AV lands the university in the top ten regional colleges in the south. At number 7 overall, the ranking also solidified AV as Arkansas's top-ranked public regional college.
Securing another top rank, AV was named one of the top performers nation-wide in social mobility. According to U.S. News, "Economically disadvantaged students are less likely than others to finish college, even when controlling for their achievement in high school. But some colleges are more successful than others at advancing social mobility by enrolling and graduating large proportions of disadvantaged students awarded with Pell Grants. The vast majority of these federal grants are awarded to students whose adjusted gross family incomes are under $50,000. The following schools performed best on U.S. News' social mobility ranking factors, which in addition to the two Pell Grant factors, also include borrower debt and college graduates earning more than high school graduates.” AV was named No. 48 in social mobility and fourth in Arkansas.
U.S. News also lists the university's Nursing, Business and Computer Science programs as national achievers.
