Enrollment for the spring semester at the AV is still open until AV offices close for the holidays on Dec. 23, with registration continuing when the campus reopens on Jan. 2.

Penny Pendleton of Fort Smith, dean of enrollment management, said current and new students have already been registering for the classes which begin Jan. 13.

“The schedule of classes being offered is available by clicking on  ‘Academics’ and ‘Class Schedule’ on the main AV website, ,” said Pendleton. “Current students may still register online, but others who are interested in enrolling will need to visit the Admissions Office on the second floor of the Smith-Pendergraft Campus Center to begin the process.”

As has been the tradition at AV for a number of years, individuals age 60 and above may receive free tuition by registering on the designated dates for that purpose, which are Jan. 9 and 10. Some fees still apply.

“Some classes have already filled, and others are filling quickly,” said Pendleton, “so it’s important to register as soon as possible.”

AV offers more than 30 bachelor's degrees in a variety of career fields as well as numerous associate degree and certificate programs.

"We have shorter-term options for students who want quick employment, but many of our students use these programs as stepping stones to advanced education, such as bachelor's degrees or beyond," she said. "Our advisers can help each student choose the best route to follow."

Hours are 8 a.m.-6 p.m. Monday through Thursday and 9 a.m.-5 p.m. on Friday for the Admissions, Advisement and Financial Aid offices and for advisement within the Colleges. For more information, call 479-788-7120.
