robert tepperA pop musician best known for his hit song featured in “Rocky IV” and a prominent local musician will treat Fort Smith residents to a concert at 7:30 p.m. Sept. 28 as part of the University of Arkansas – Fort Smith’s Season at The Blue Lion.

Robert Tepper and Chris Cameron will perform at The Blue Lion at AV Downtown, located at 101 N. 2nd Street. Tickets are $25.

Known for his hit song “No Easy Way Out” featured on the “Rocky IV” soundtrack, Tepper has released four pop albums, most recently “New Life Story” released in 2012, his first album in 16 years.

Tepper will perform with Chris Cameron, a University of Arkansas – Fort Smith alumnus who is a prominent local musician, finding acclaim for his formidable blues sound. Cameron, who is from Alma, won the 1997 International Blues Challenge in Memphis, beating out 37 bands and receiving the Albert King Award for Most Promising International Blues Guitarist. He furthered his music career while attending AV, graduating in 2001 with a degree in business.

Dr. Christopher Barrick, head of the Department of Music at AV, will perform alongside Tepper and Cameron during the concert.

Stacey Jones, associate vice chancellor for campus and community events, said the duo will perform an electrifying show.

“This will be a fun concert with ‘80s light rock that will be a trip down memory lane,” Jones said. “We’re exciting to have musicians from this area perform as well to add some local flavor to the show. It’s going to be a very entertaining evening.”

The concert is part of the university’s Season at The Blue Lion, a lineup of musical performances held at the university’s downtown venue featuring local and nationally-recognized musicians.
