choral concert performers

Music students perform during last year's Choral Concert.

The University of Arkansas – Fort Smith’s Department of Music will “light the night” when it presents a choral concert at 7:30 p.m. Oct. 10 as part of the university’s Season of Entertainment 37.

The concert, titled “Light the Night: A Concert of Hope,” will feature the Women’s Chorus and Concert Chorale performing at the ArcBest Corp. Performing Arts Center, located at 55 S. 7th St.

Music will be performed by composers including Felix Mendelssohn, Gustav Holst and Randall Thompson, among others.

The concert will encompass themes of hope, joy, light and love, according to Dr. Timothy Workman, director of choral activities.

“Audiences can expect to hear a few gems from music history, as well as a few contemporary compositions that will sound stunning in the acoustics of the Convention Center,” Workman said. “This will be my first opportunity to direct the AV choirs in concert, and it has already been a great joy to get to know the students and prepare for this concert.”
